Sunday School
Sunday School Ministry is directed by a team of trained teachers who work with a comprehensive curriculum, pre-school through high school. The curriculum is based on character education and an emphasis on values, and virtues, while learning from the lives of great biblical figures, as well as contemporary role models and examples. Based in Divine Principle, the goal is to take faith into the realm of our real life experiences. Forums and discussion add to an interactive classroom, where children are encouraged to question, and strive their best to develop and own their own faith in action.

Growing-Up Workshop: is designed for children 5-12 year old, meets quarterly,
The one-day workshop is (from 10am to 4pm) offers age appropriate short talks introducing God, faith, virtues and importance of family. It is coordinated and organized by parents and young adults. Activities include music, arts and crafts, sports, cooking, games and other fun activities, which provide an experience of community and healthy relationships in a spiritually rich environment.

Scouting is part of our children and youth ministry program. We started out with a Cub Scout program for boys in 1st to 5th grades in 1998. Since that time, we have added a Boy Scout troop for boys in grades 6th-12th in 2000 and a co-ed venture crew for high school and college age in 2006. Just recently, a girl scout troop has begun meeting at the Bay Area Family Church as well. Troop 818 has 13 eagle scouts who have competed a number of substantial projects for the community including a Peace Garden at Oikos University in Oakland, the site of a shooting of seven students, owl nesting boxes for H.A.R.D., a computer lab for Davis Street Community Center, and a playhouse for the Principled Academy. Scouting is an important part of our church community because it supports the values of our church community: character education, service in the community, love for God, family and nature.

Youth MInistry,
Friday Night Dynamite-Twice a month gatherings for middle and high school students that include a variety of activities-games, music, talks, internal guidance, worship music, prayer, food and fellowship. Sometimes the program includes an overnight bash for the purpose of creating community and friendships.

High School Tribes-High school tribes are small groups run by college/young adults who are committed to developing relationships with their group in order to guide, inspire and mentor them. Tribes meets once a month during Sunday School as well as having other planned activities.

Venture Crew 818
Our venture crew is part of the BAFC Youth Ministry providing high school and college age students the opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure (hiking, backpacking, camping, rock-climbing, white-water rafting, kayaking, etc.), develop healthy relationships and appreciate God’s beautiful creation. Middle and High School Retreats - middle school retreats are held over Thanksgiving break and high school retreats are held during Christmas break. During the summer, One Heart Camp is held for both middle and high schoolers to teach the basics of our faith, encourage participants to begin to develop their own faith, develop their character and life goals, to make a choice for abstinence in preparation for marriage and family, and to make authentic friends of faith.

Roots & Wings- is an annual ceremony is held in June to acknowledge graduating high school seniors. The focus is to acknowledge and strengthen the connections the students have with their families and our local church community (roots) as well as to encourage them as they prepare to head off to college or university, GPA/NGA (or other service-oriented programs) and wherever their future may lead them (wings)
